Paracletos
Intersect Art Center, St. Louis, MO, 2025
In Parakletos, an aluminum foil installation created for the We are What exhibit at Intersect Arts Center, I continue my exploration of symbolism in aluminum foil—materially tied to the food service industry yet deeply resonant with religious themes. Paired with my earlier figurative painting Last Supper (2011), the works create a dialogue between the industrial and the sacred, examining food, service, and spiritual presence. The foil’s association with preparation and preservation contrasts with Christ’s enduring call to serve, subtly emphasized by the absence of hands in the painting. Together, the pieces invite reflection on the intersections of consumption, community, and divine action, posing questions about who we are called to serve and how our systems of provision reflect our deeper values.

Psalm 27
My Light and My Salvation
Georgetown College, 2024
“The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is the defense of my life;
Whom should I dread?.”
Psalm 72:1 (NASB)
The title of the exhibition Psalm 27: My Light and My Salvation posed a unique opportunity to explore questions around art and faith in the new context of Georgetown College. What does it mean to call God ‘light and salvation?’ How does religious belief effect a person’s psychology? What do I put my trust in?

The Body of Christ.
Calvin University, 2022
“Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it.” I Corinthians 12:27 (NASB)
The title of the exhibition Body of Christ posed a unique opportunity to explore questions specific to Christianity within the familiar context of Calvin University. How do I think about this metaphor two thousand years after it was coined? How can anyone conceive of the entirety of believers in Jesus? What does it mean to be part of this body?
